Great Blue Herons are painfully patient. They’ll stand still in shallow water waiting for the perfect fish to swim by. And when it does, they seize their moment with a speed that always surprises me. They are patience but not hesitant.
I think that’s the lesson for me this month. I’ve got some bigger paintings brewing but they need some time. I just can’t produce one a day without sacrificing something important. The whole secret to these painting a day challenges has been to always have something small, familiar, and meaningful to return to time and time again. It prevents me from stalling and from rushing.
