Description
This original abstract impasto painting was created on Day 24 of my 31 in 31 daily painting project. Painted thickly in oil on panel, the surface is heavily worked—oozing, scraped, and molded—reflecting moments of uncertainty and the need to make something physically real when thoughts feel unmanageable.
Scratched into the paint are the words “Love Thy Neighbor,” a phrase that became central to the making of this piece. As I worked, I was thinking about the parable of the Good Samaritan and Mary Oliver’s poem Franz Marc’s Blue Horses—both pointing toward mercy, imagination, and the quiet hope that beauty can make us kinder.
Though abstract, the painting holds traces of interaction and relationship, inspired by bird shapes and the spaces formed between them. Color is moved intuitively, layered until meaning begins to surface.
This piece is framed and ready to hang, and it invites slow looking—an abstract painting that carries language, faith, and the tension between fear and compassion.

- Originals and paper prints are typically processed and shipped within 2-7 business days after payment confirmation, excluding weekends and holidays. Stretched canvas prints that are not currently in stock at our gallery can take up to 14 days to process and ship.
- Shipping Methods:
- We ship all artwork via USPS or UPS
- Shipping costs and delivery estimates will be calculated at checkout based on the destination and selected shipping method.
- Shipping Confirmation:
- Once your order has been shipped, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with tracking information to track your package’s delivery status.
Returns and Exchanges:
We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. If for any reason you are not satisfied with your order, we offer a hassle-free return and exchange process within 30 days of the delivery date. Please follow these guidelines:
- Eligibility:
- To be eligible for a return or exchange, artworks must be unused, undamaged, and in their original packaging.
- Return Process:
- Contact us at denise@denisehopkinsfineart.com to initiate the return process.
- Securely package the artwork(s) with the original packing materials.
- Ship the item(s) back to us using a trackable shipping method. The return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer unless the return is due to our error.
- Refunds and Exchanges:
- Once we receive and inspect the returned item(s), we will process your refund or exchange within 5-7 business days.
- Refunds will be issued to the original payment method used for the purchase.
- Exchanges will be subject to product availability. If the desired item is unavailable, we will issue a refund or offer an alternative solution.
Damaged or Defective Items:
In the rare event that your artwork arrives damaged or defective, please contact us immediately at denise@denisehopkinsfineart.com. We will work with you to resolve the issue promptly, whether through a replacement, refund, or repair.
Custom Orders:
Please note that custom or personalized artworks are not eligible for return or exchange unless they arrive damaged or defective. We will work closely with you throughout the customization process to ensure your satisfaction.

We take great care in packaging our artworks to ensure they arrive safely. Each piece is securely wrapped and protected with appropriate packaging materials to prevent damage during transit.
At this time, we are not able to ship outside the United States
Commissions are currently closed but if you’d like an enhanced version of one of our prints, please feel free to contact us at denise@denisehopkinsfineart.com. Please note that we cannot do custom enhanced prints smaller than 16×16.

At the moment, we do not offer framing services. However, we can provide recommendations for reputable framing shops or assist you in selecting the appropriate frame for your artwork.
