Description
“High Horse, Good Grip” was created during day 30 of my annual 31 in 31 creative practice. Built on a base layer of leftover acrylic paint, the painting began with loose oil pastel drawings of horses and riders before being shaped through negative space rather than direct representation.
The result is an abstract composition that feels physical, intuitive, and alive—less about control and more about trust. This painting reflects my belief that creativity places us on a “high horse,” not one of arrogance, but of steadiness and possibility. We may ride something large and powerful, but we are capable of holding on.

Please note: All paintings created in the 2026 31 in 31 will be featured in our gallery exhibition on February 21 and will not be available for shipping or pickup until after the close of the show.
