Another Day, Another Bird Painting

It’s been a couple days since my last daily painting and it feels like weeks.  The blue heron is slowly becoming my “go-to” bird, and I wonder if the pelicans will get jealous, if they notice me when I pass them on the causeway and think, “There is the girl who used to love us.” It’s not that I don’t.  Is this turning into an apology?

I’m still working on the commissioned pieces which are so different than my daily paintings.  I care so much about what the recipients will think of them that I am sometimes paralyzed by my imagined impression of their impressions.  So often I escape from expectations and worry in the form of bird painting.  I started this one Saturday and finished it a few minutes ago, wanting to revisit the square-like brushstrokes I’ve gotten away from lately.  I love this bird.  Her watchful eye, peaceful stance, but most of all her stillness.  I’m having trouble being still, but I can tell there are good things on the horizon.
