Day 34. The Best Thing About Daily Painting

IMG_0746

Untitled, 12×12, oil on canvas.

The best thing about daily painting is no matter how you feel one day, the next is full of possibility. This is a scene from my neighborhood where the golf course backs up to the river. Can you see the little golf course flag?

I did it weeks ago outside, wasn’t very happy with it, and tried to touch it up in the studio without much luck. But tomorrow I’ll be home from my two-day work trip. I’ll have fresh, blank canvases. I’ll hopefully have fresh eyes. Tomorrow is mother’s-day-out, one of the last ones of the year. Tomorrow is four hours of complete, uninterrupted quiet.

I’ve got big plans for tomorrow. If daily painting weren’t hard sometimes, I don’t know that it would worth doing.
