I am exceedingly excited that I’ve been able to explore some different subjects during this challenge. Among my favorites have been the small figure studies and the abstracts. I’m eager to do more.
But at the end of the day, it is the quiet, innocuous birds that get me every time. The way they hop and flit about. The way their heads move jerkingly and then become still when they see something of interest. They have an attitude about them– a contradictory one. At times hyper focused and other times completely carefree.
Today’s painting is a scarlet robin– I love any bird that has a bright red chest.
