For a while now I’ve been doing another type of painting. The walls in my new house were what I affectionately call “neon mustard.” Between the layers of paint it took to get rid of the mustard, and the million trips to target, I’ve been slacking big time on my painting. Last week my real estate agent and friend came over for dinner. It was her first time seeing the house without all that mustard. She brought over some gorgeous flowers– the models for today’s painting.
I’ve got some bigger projects in mind. But getting back to the basics by doing a small painting even though the studio isn’t even fully unpacked is so, well, gratifying. Nothing about home ownership involves instant gratification. I’ve already dealt with a broken microwave and faulty insulation, all of which are long, drawn out processes. The daily painting is immediate. And we could all use a little of that. Am I right?
Despite the hiccups, I will say that Ezra and I are completely in love. He’s even had a few friends over to play.
