I’m grateful to all of you who have been sending me photos of musicians for this little series I’m exploring. The photo that is the inspiration for this one was sent to me the evening Hurricane Nate was suppose to pass through with the message, “My neighbor is singing some pre Nate songs and I thought of your project.”
I’m not promising I wont ever paint some well-established musicians, but, for now, what I really like about this series is the everydayness of it. The singing-pre-nate-songs-on-the-porch-stoopness of it.
I’m still collecting photos of musicians– young and old. If you’ve got some, please send ’em my way by leaving it in the comments or emailing me at denise@denisehopkinsfineart.com.

I can feel this guy’s ‘waiting on Nate’ vibe…comes through in the painting.
Also, I found the picture I was looking for [pardon the grammar], of George Finola and the Chosen Few ‘circa 1974’, and I will be getting that to you this evening.
looking forward to it!
