“In Good Times and in Bad” 8×8, oil on canvas $175.00

Feels funny to type “day 32”. I usually end on 31 days every January, but school is officially out for the rest of the year, I just bought my first masks so I can still make groceries, and I’m becoming ever more aware that “normal,” like the virus, will be novel. So, I’ve got some days ahead.

I’m thinking about all these flowers I’ve been painting lately. They are not just joyful to me in uncertain times. They are also a reminder that all this– the good, the bad, the ugly– is temporary. They remind me to stay in the present moment and to cling to what is essential– namely love.

Flowers are for celebration, but also for grief. I’m feeling those things so intensely right now. The flowers are my companions for both.
