“Red Head” 6×6, oil on canvas [creativ_button url=”https://denisehopkinsfineart.com/product/red-head-6×6-oil-on-canvas/” icon=”” label=”Buy Now” colour=”red” colour_custom=”” size=”medium” edge=”straight” target=”_self”]
For today’s painting, I referenced a beautiful photograph of a red-bellied woodpecker I found on instagram by @the_peck_deck.
At first I just saw the more abstract painting I would do– a focus on those black and white stripes on the feathers, but, being who I am, a woman of discipline and routine, I opted for this little 6×6 to get me started.
Not sure if I’ll get to the abstracted version this month. I’m nearly out of white paint and my order won’t come in for a week. Like I mentioned yesterday, the larger palette knife pieces require a lot of paint. It’s possible I’ll stick to the littles to finish out my month, but who knows, there’s a great art store just down the road. We will see what tomorrow brings.
