Day 34. Happy Accidents

“Chance Encounter” 4×4, oil on canvas, $80.00

This morning’s painting session was going swimmingly, that is, until, once I’d finished this little guy and was ready to take him outside for a quick photo shoot. I fumbled him and he landed, jelly-side down on the concrete floor. 

The damage was more moderate than I’d expected, but it did require some reworking. Some of the newer strokes are actually my favorite– particularly that little touch of yellow on the left side of the body, swishing off into the background. Thank you, clumsiness.

Not all accidents are happy. This one was. I’ll live to paint another day.
