Inspiration:

I heard this metaphor for the mind recently. Andy Puddicombe, founder of the app Headspace, explained (in his delightfully-British-so-it-must-be-smart-accent) that the mind is like a blue sky. When things are clear, all is well. But when dark clouds and storms appear, it’s easy to forget that the blue sky is still there. He said to imagine it just above whatever is going on. We have an all-access pass to it.

As I worked on my day 15 painting, I felt the nervous energy of how many days still lie ahead in this month and how much there is still left to do. And I remembered his metaphor. I wasn’t sure where the painting was going, but as I painted I realized it was about the blue sky. The one that’s always there. Sometimes, just beyond the chaos below it.

And, of course, there’s a bird that came at the end, because how could there not be? Birds have always been my version of the blue sky, my harbinger of peace, my little guide to calm.

Please note

The framed image of this piece was created digitally as the piece is currently being framed by a local framer. The artwork will have some variations from this image that buyer will approve before shipping.
