Description
There’s an old tradition known as “telling the bees”—sharing the important news of a household with the hive: births and deaths, marriages, departures, and all the things that change a life.
In “Telling the Bees”, a woman crowned in flowers bows toward a tiny bee, as if letting it in on something only the two of them need to know. The painting holds that lovely idea that our joys and sorrows are meant to be shared, and that even the smallest creatures can belong to the stories of our lives.
“Telling the Bees” is an original oil painting by Denise Hopkins, created with expressive color and richly layered palette-knife texture.
