“Gentle” 4×4, oil on canvas [creativ_button url=”https://denisehopkinsfineart.com/product/gentle-4×4-oil-on-canvas/” icon=”” label=”More Info” colour=”red” colour_custom=”” size=”medium” edge=”straight” target=”_self”]
Yesterday, I got the same good advice from a handful of people: be gentle on yourself. So yesterday, full of worry and panic, I opted to go for a walk instead of a run. I visited with friends on a front porch for longer than I had intended. I had an afternoon coffee and didn’t play on my phone while I sipped.
And today, if ‘m honest, all I have in me is this little sunflower, which I created very much in the spirit of Robert Herrick’s 17th century poem.
Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,
Old Time is still a-flying;
And this same flower that smiles today
To-morrow will be dying.
For me it was more of a “paint ye sunflowers while ye may” type of thing, since the bouquet on my table that I’m using as my model is already starting to wilt, but you get the picture.
Time passes whether or not I obsess over it. That’s where I’m at on Day 17. I’ve put my larger paintings on hold for the moment, and I’m taking a break from Art and Fear. Stopping to smell the rosebuds and what not.
