Blue herons in my dreams. Never moving, always still.
This one started so magically. In ten minutes I had a loose sketch– thin paint that flowed across the canvas. But real paintings can’t take ten minutes. Impossible.
So I worked it and worked it with the palette knife which is blobbing and scratching, far less graceful.
I love painting both ways– flowing, streaking and also piling, scratching. But I wish sometimes I could just stop. Or learn to develop that which is loose and free without jailing it and stealing its spirit.
