“In Good Times and in Bad” 4×4, oil on canvas

I tried something new. I brought a small 4×4 canvas with me to a wedding I was painting. I’d already prepped it with a magenta wash so it was ready.

Once I’d set up and was waiting for the reception to start, I did a quick study of a couple of the flowers in these large, extravagant floral displays. There were orchids and peonies for days and they cascaded down over the sides of these at least four foot tall vases. But I picked just a tiny little portion of it to study– some unassuming flowers that you’d never know were part of such grandeur. I think there might be some advice in there somewhere.
