I’ve only done two other oyster paintings. They’re tough. So when I got a request to paint them again, I was a wee bit hesitant. I’m glad I went for it though as I found this particular oyster painting enjoyable. It’s the first I’ve done with a palette knife instead of a brush. I started off with a very simple brush underpainting which I was none too enthused about. Pulling out the palette knife after having not used it in days, really made all the difference.
And, in case you’re interested. I did an oyster painting in my first 30 in 30 challenge in April 2014. It’s interesting to go back and see how I painted but also how I was thinking at the time. Read it here.
