“Picnic Prep” 20×20, oil on canvas
This is another commissioned piece, one I put off and put off doing, then finally started. As I was painting, I wondered why I’d put it off. It was fun. I might still add a few strokes here or there. I think I captured more movement in the girl on the right than the one on the left, but I’ve settled in for my afternoon espresso, and I’ve put the brushes away. For now.
I’ve got so many commissioned pieces to do this month (a wonderful problem to have!), it’s easy to forget that painting is fun. That many times, it’s child’s play: adventure, exploration, trial and error. A painting like today’s is always a nice reminder.
