When I asked what other paintings should go in my little seafood series, the consensus seemed to be a crab. But a crab is so much bigger than a crawfish, oyster, and shrimp that I thought I’d try something new and paint just part of the crab.
I have mixed feelings. Here’s the whole series, side by side.
There have been days, particularly recently, when I’ve felt like throwing in the towel. A 100 day challenge means you have to paint even when you don’t feel like it, even when you feel uninspired. But sticking with it has paid off, and I’ve been a little overwhelmed by all the good things happening lately– the sold paintings, the booked live paintings at weddings, the e-mails from strangers and former students, and, as always, the wonderfully supportive feedback I receive every day. Again and always, thank you.
