The greatest lesson I have learned from painting daily is this: if you want to do something, start doing it. I wanted to be an artist, but it wasn’t until I started painting that I could be one. I know, not very profound. But I’d spent years in my head and minutes on the canvas and expected something to happen.
I’ve been wanting to do an abstract piece, and for whatever reason, when I woke up this morning I knew today was the day. Early in this 100 day challenge, I made a list of goals; one of them was to do an abstract. At day 83, I realized it wasn’t going to happen unless I forced the issue.
I love the red. Other than that, I’m mostly proud of the fact that I did it. I’m not sure if there is a future for me in abstracts, but I’d like to give it a couple more tries. And when you paint every day, everything is fair game.
