Day 88. I Used to Be Afraid

Abstract Painting by Denise Hopkins

“Used to Be” 10×10, oil on canvas $125.00 [creativ_button url=”http://www.dailypaintworks.com/fineart/denise-hopkins/used-to-be/394875″ icon=”” label=”Buy Now” colour=”blue” colour_custom=”” size=”medium” edge=”straight” target=”_self”]

I used to be afraid to show these little abstracts that I create from time to time. This one started out as another of my little figure studies, but an hour and half in and it was getting worse not better.

I used to be afraid to scrape off a painting and usually opted instead to torture it to death with constant reworking. There was freedom instead of misery in scraping off the image in this one and starting fresh, this time in a completely different direction.

It’s a nice change of pace to focus almost exclusively on color and what different colors do next to one another.

I don’t know if I have it in me to become an abstract artist (so HARD!) but I love giving it my attention every once in a while.
