Mother Child Art- April Challenge Day 2

I’ve been working on a series of “little madonnas”.  Some are based on real faces in which I reference photographs.  Others are abstracted, created in my imagination, and, I’d like to think, expressive and raw (will be posting these soon).  This one is based on a couple different photographs (of strangers).  What I love most is the thumb resting on cheek.  The past few days have been challenging to say the least.  My son’s getting over a sickness he gave to everyone he encountered.  He’s not been easily amused or content.  But in those rare moments of quiet, when he lies his head against my shoulder and my fingers linger near his cheek, I find a subtle strength.

I’m really interested in these mother and child images and would like to continue exploring the series.  I love basing the images on “real” people.  If you have any personal (unposed) photographs of mother and child and wouldn’t mind seeing it loosely referenced in a painting, please E-mail me at denisehopkinsfineart@gmail.com.
