Crawfish Painting Season- April Challenge Day 9

Haven’t painted crawfish in a while, and it’s that time of year again.  They aren’t the most beautiful creatures in the world, but I think that’s why I like painting them– trying to capture a beauty not readily apparent.  I recently received a commission to do a larger crawfish painting.  I thought I’d test the waters with this little guy.  I liked him so much I started painting him a friend at the same time.  There is something about the side byside canvas, the act of doing two paintings at once.  His friend will be finished soon, but here’s a little preview:
